Eligibility

All types of providers are encouraged to apply, including providers who are center-based, and those who operate family home child care, group home child care, and family child care incubator projects. Licensed Exempt programs who receive funding from the public-school systems are not eligible for this funding.

Applicants can operate an existing early care business or be in the process of establishing a new early care business. Family home projects that want to become group homes are eligible as are group homes interested in becoming small centers. Programs may be a non-profit or for-profit business.

Grant Requirements

Family child care networks offer providers opportunities to develop long-term professional relationships and peer-to-peer support. When you become a member of a network, you will have access to support and resources that can help you improve your business practices. The Family Child Care Networks are committed to working with you to provide free coaching, consultation, and professional development to promote your business and meet the need to have quality child care accessible to families in your community.   • Projects must be in Connecticut.

  • Programs must be licensed by the OEC and in good standing. OR programs in the process of being licensed can apply but may be required to receive technical assistance to assist with the licensing requirements, and/or to increase fiscal management skills.

  • Providers must have separate business and personal bank accounts for use with LISC’s ACH
    system.

Projects must address one or more of the project priorities

Renovation to an existing, licensed location

Renovation to a new location

Indoor Learning Environment: furniture, equipment, and supplies supporting children’s indoor learning spaces.

Health, Safety, and Accessibility: equipment and supplies to improve health and sanitation, state and local compliance, and compliance with code and regulation.

Outdoor Learning Environment: furniture, equipment, and supplies supporting children’s outdoor learning spaces.

Social Vulnerability Index map for Connecticut communities

Grant Funding Priority

Grant funding will be prioritized for projects in hard-to-serve areas of the state that reach economically vulnerable populations. Priority will be given to applicants who are in towns with a high SVI, or enrolling a high percentage of children who are Care4Kids eligible. However, all interested applicants are encouraged to apply.
